How to Enable Network Discovery and Configure Sharing Options on Windows 10?

Network discovery is the procedure via which network devices and systems are capable of locating each other. It turns on the network devices above a local network to link and connect with additional devices. This feature enables automatically once you link the private networks such as one in the workplace or home, and it also disables when you linked to the public networks that are not genuine. You cannot permit the system to be visible on those networks. So, if you want to turn on the network discovery and setup sharing options on Windows 10, then here are the steps to do so:

Turn on Network Discovery

1.      Launch the Settings on your PC.

2.      After that, select the Network and Internet option.

3.      Then reach the left pane and select either Ethernet (if you’re connected to a network using a network cable) or Wi-Fi (if you’re connected to a wireless network).

4.      Thereafter, locate the section of Related settings then select the Change Advanced Sharing Settings option.

5.      Go to the section of ‘Network discover’ and click on the “Turn on network discovery” option.

6.      Then tick the box of “Turn on automatic setup of network-connected devices.”

7.      You should click on the Save Changes option.

8.      Now, shut the Settings screen.

 Turn on File and Printer Sharing

1.      Navigate to the Settings and launch it.

2.      Thereafter, reach the Network and Internet option.

3.      Afterward, go to the left pane and pick either Ethernet (if you’re connected to a network using a network cable) or Wi-Fi (if you’re connected to a wireless network).

4.      You should locate the field of Related settings then select the Change Advanced Sharing Setting option.

5.      Then extend the profile of the network recently allotted to the network connection.

6.      Reach the section of File and Printer and choose the ‘Turn On File and Printer Sharing’ option.

7.      Later select the Save Changes option.

8.      Finally, shut the Settings screen.

 Turn on Public Folder Sharing

1.      Firstly, invoke the Settings on your device.

2.      Then pick the ‘Network & Internet’ option.

3.      After that, choose either Ethernet (if you’re connected to a network using a network cable) or Wi-Fi (if you’re connected to a wireless network).

4.      Locate the tab of Related settings then select the ‘Change Advanced Sharing Settings’ option.

5.      You should move down and extend the category of All Networks of settings.

6.      Reach the section of ‘Public Folder Sharing’ and choose the ‘Turn On Sharing So Anyone with Network Access Can Read and Write Files in the Public Folders’ option.

7.      Later, select Save Changes.

8.      Now, shut the Settings page.

 Turn on Password Protected Sharing

1.      Unlock the Settings option.

2.      Afterward, select the ‘Network & Internet’ option. 

3.      Thereafter, click on either Ethernet (if you’re connected to a network using a network cable) or Wi-Fi (if you’re connected to a wireless network) from the left pane.

4.      Locate the tab of Related settings then select the ‘Change Advanced Sharing Settings’ option.

5.      You should move down and extend the category of All Networks of settings.

6.      Reach the field of ‘Password Protected Sharing’ and choose the ‘Turn On Password Protected Sharing.’

7.      Go to the Save Changes and select it.

8.      Now, shut the Settings page.
